Hi, my name’s Charlotte Osborne, I’m an artist and wanderer, accompanied by Monsuous Ecology - a companion-being that helps me move through the messiness of existence. Through painting, collage and sculpture, I explore the entangled and monstrous intimacies that bind all living beings. Viscera systems, shimmering microbes, chimerical creatures and seeking tendrils lay bare nature’s exquisite interdependence. I usually work with the monotype printing method using a traditional etching press. Guided by intuition and play, prints are joined, cut out and assembled, hinting at emergent, ecological worlds.

Outside of the studio, I'm interested in experimental, community building practices and embodied explorations into selfhood, and how these can be tools for deep reflection and social change. I have experience in Forum theatre and Voice Dialogue techniques, which involves paying close attention to how our thoughts and emotions manifest physically, revealing hidden, messy and often unwanted layers of the self. Just as we host countless non-human microorganisms within our bodies, we also contain a multitude of personalites. Cells grow, divide, and evolve, and so do the many parts of ourselves.

Woven into my creative practices, I love working outdoors in organic growing and small-scale farming. We are the embodiment of food and so we must nurture biodiversity at all costs, to support resilient, self-sustaining ecosystems. I hold a postgraduate certificate in Engaged Ecology from Schumacher College, South Devon (2023), a Master's in Fine art from City & Guilds of London Art School (2019), and a BA in Fine art from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London (2013).

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to receive support from inspiring practitioners, institutes, and communities, including Navdanya Earth University & Biodiversity Farm (India), School of Theatre of the Oppressed (London), Christie Animas (Fool Expression, UK), Animas Valley Institute (USA) and Tamera Peace Research Community (Portugal). I’m currently based in the West Midlands, UK.
